The first half of this course covers how economic development policies and issues have taken shape since the 1930s. The second half of the class introduces students to present policy problems and issues throughout the developing world. Specifically, students will look at the topics of domestic and external financing, human resources, agriculture and industrialization, foreign trade and government policy. Exams must be taken in a proctored location, with arrangements to be made by the student. Exam proctoring fees vary by site and are not included in the course fee. This course provides an overview of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. This course can serve as a refresher or update on key planning, safety, and design issues pertaining to human-powered transportation modes for the practicing transportation engineer and planner. The material is divided into three basic topics: an overview of safety, mode usage, and evolution of federal policies, basic design concepts and considerations for pedestrians, and basic design concepts and considerations for bicyclists.
